Overview |

The state Wage and Hour Bureau and the federal Wage and Hour Division present this public workshop to help educate businesses about applicable labor laws and other potentially troublesome issues. Co-Sponsored by the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce and DRAKE & Associates, Ltd., this one-day workshop offers the community a chance to learn from and ask questions of the experts.
The Department of Labor has been mandated to conduct educational events to help employers be compliant with the law. The focus of this seminar is to educate for compliance and will not lead to adverse action.

Topics Covered |

The seminar's emphasis will be on the new federal overtime exemption rules. Other topics will include:
- state and federal labor law coverage
- employer-employee relationship
- minimum wage (including tipped employees)
- time and one-half overtime pay
- promised wages and wage benefits
- child labor/youth employment (including hazardous/detrimental/prohibited occupations and work permits)
- hours worked, and various other employment laws

The seminar is conducted by both state and federal wage and hour officials, who will be available to answer your questions throughout the day. Each participant will be given a wage and hour reference notebook, a valuable resource for future questions. Lunch and snacks are provided. |

Registration is required to attend this event and must be received by April 18, 2006. To register, please complete the paper
registration form (click here), and then fax it to the Morrisville Chamber of Commerce at (919) 380-9021 or mail it to the Chamber at PO Box 548, Morrisville, NC 27560. The registration fee is $50 and must be included with your form. Make checks payable to the "NC Department of Labor," or include VISA or Mastercard information on your form. |
